Vietnam is the world's second-largest coffee producer and the leading robusta supplier.
Spain has a strong café culture, a clear preference for robusta and the world's largest decaffeinated coffee market. That makes it a natural market for Vietnamese coffee.
Spain imported about 306,000 tonnes of green coffee (2023 data), making it Europe's fourth-largest importer. Vietnam is the top supplier at about 124,000 tonnes. Robusta makes up about 59% of imports, and about 20% of coffee consumed is decaffeinated.
